Deposit
The steps
- Open Heron and connect your wallet.
- Pick the amount.
- Approve the token, then confirm the deposit. Two confirmations in your wallet.
- Wait for the network. On GIWA a block is about one second, so this is quick.
Your balance appears once the second transaction confirms.
Two mistakes that cost people money
Heron's deposit screen is built so you cannot make either of these, but they are worth knowing because they are real and they are silent.
Do not send tokens directly to a vault address. If you transfer straight to a pooled vault instead of using the deposit flow, the vault's balance goes up but you receive nothing in return. Your deposit is given away to everyone else in the pool. The transaction succeeds and nothing warns you.
Do not send tokens to an account that has not been created yet. Personal accounts have a predictable address, so it is tempting to send funds before the account exists. If the account is never created, those tokens cannot be recovered by anyone.
This is why Heron never shows you a QR code to pay, and never shows an account address until that account actually exists on the network.
